Your Medicare Options Explained

Medicare has many moving parts. We walk you through every option so you choose with confidence.

🅰

Original Medicare (Part A & B)

Part A covers hospital stays; Part B covers doctors, outpatient care, and preventive services. We help you understand costs, timelines, and enrollment windows to avoid late penalties.

Medicare Advantage (Part C)

Combines your Part A and Part B coverage into one plan from a private insurer. We compare every plan in your area. Learn more at Medicare.gov.

Medicare Part D — Drug Plans

Prescription drug costs vary dramatically by plan. We run your full medication list through every available Part D plan to find the lowest total annual drug cost for you.

Medigap / Supplement Plans

Original Medicare covers about 80% of costs. A Medigap policy picks up the remainder — copays, coinsurance, deductibles — giving you predictable, near-zero out-of-pocket costs.

Medicare Savings Programs

Many Texans qualify for QMB, SLMB, or Extra Help (LIS) programs that can eliminate Part B premiums and Part D costs entirely. We check your eligibility for no cost.

FAQ

Medicare Questions, Answered

When should I enroll in Medicare?
Your Initial Enrollment Period (IEP) is the 7-month window around your 65th birthday — 3 months before, the month of, and 3 months after. Enrolling late without creditable coverage can result in permanent premium penalties. We help you plan your enrollment timing.
What's the difference between Medicare Advantage and Medigap?
Medicare Advantage replaces Original Medicare with a managed care plan (often $0 premium but with copays and networks). Medigap supplements Original Medicare by paying your share of costs (often no network restrictions but higher premiums). The best choice depends on your health, budget, and preferred doctors.
How do I know if my doctors accept my Medicare plan?
We verify that your current doctors and preferred hospitals are in-network before recommending any Medicare Advantage plan. With Original Medicare plus a Medigap plan, virtually all providers who accept Medicare will accept your coverage.
What is Extra Help / LIS?
Extra Help (also called Low Income Subsidy or LIS) is a federal program that reduces or eliminates Medicare Part D premiums, deductibles, and co-pays for people with limited income and resources. Many eligible beneficiaries don't know they qualify — we check at every consultation.
Does GIC charge for Medicare consultations?
Never. Our Medicare consultation and enrollment assistance are completely no cost.
